This is the song that made me fall in love with Eric Michael Krop forever. It’s “Bless the Lord” from Godspell, and Krop was singing the shit out of it last Sunday night at 54 Below in Shoshana Feinstein’s Not at This Performance concert.
The best item I ever purchased at a Broadway show was a roll of toilet paper signed by the cast of Urinetown.
Window cards and posters are nice, but the best merchandise is creative and show-specific. I’ve compiled a list of 10 completely badass pieces of merch from current and recent shows. (FYI, this list also conveniently doubles as my birthday wish list.)
You know what this is?
This is the best 25.99 seconds of our entire backstage tour at Godspell. We couldn’t keep it to ourselves any longer.
So, for your viewing pleasure, George Salazar’s hilariously on-point performance of “Mamma Who Bore Me” from Spring Awakening. Featuring Nick Blaemire as the creepiest air-guitar player ever.
You are welcome, America.
Though, I am sorry I snorted in laughter at one point. Please don’t let that interrupt your experience.
So here’s a cool thing: Every night at Godspell, following the show, there’s a raffle where you can win a backstage tour. We wanted to know what it was like, and we wanted to share with you, because maybe you can’t get to NYC to see Godspell, or maybe you just have crappy luck.
If you’ve gotten anywhere near the Circle in the Square lately, you know that the lovely Lindsay Mendez is blowing the roof off eight times a week in Godspell. We caught up with her backstage at Drew Gasparini’s gig at Joe’s Pub, where she chatted about all the important stuff — shopping, hot boys, and the serial killer musical that Drew is writing for her.
The performance starts around the 39:00 mark, and they sing their faces off. CBS Is working hard to make this difficult for you, so you’ll need to scroll through the full episode and probably watch an ad or two. Worth it for this performance, though.
The amazing Lindsay Mendez, who’s currently starring in Godspell on Broadway, singing a Kerrigan and Lowdermilk song called “Hand in Hand”. Keep your finger on the “replay” button.
